VIOLIN, SALZBURG SCHOOL Salzburg, 18th century Two-piece spruce top and maple back, dark brown varnish. Full-size (4/4) violin, length 58 cm, body length 35.6 cm. Unmarked. Violin from the Salzburg school of the 18th century, made in the tradition of Alpine-Austrian violin making. Characteristic features include balanced proportions, an arched body and solid craftsmanship. Instruments of this regional school combine influences of South German and Italian violin making of the 18th century. Partially bumped, rest. Expertise: Certificate by Hieronymus Köstler, Stuttgart, 2016. Provenance:Estate from a German violin-making workshop.
