EMIL PINEDO 1840 Paris - 1916 ibid. YOUNG MAN WITH SNAKE AND PAN FLUTE Bronze, brown patina, on naturalistic plinth. H. 24.5, W. 13.5, D. 9.5 cm, weight approx. 1.7 kg. Marked 'Pinedo' on the side, marked 'Bronze Garanti Au Titre Paris' on the back. Depiction of a standing youth, probably Hermes, as the god of shepherds. Holding the pan flute (syrinx) in one hand, while a small snake winds itself around his other arm, its head held in the youth's hand. Partial loss of patina. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
