ALBERT WILLIAM KÖNIG 1886 Leipzig - ? STANDING ATHLETE Bronze, dark patina, on rectangular plinth and marble base (H. 18 cm). H. 78, W. 32, D. 24 cm. Signed 'A.W. König, Leipzig' on the plinth. Depiction of a standing male athlete in a classic striding pose. The careful anatomical detailing and calm stance refer to physical strength, discipline, and ideal proportions, as is characteristic of sculpture from this period. Partial loss of patina, rubbed and bumped.
