PIETA Probably Flanders, late 14th century Linden wood, sculpted, flattened and hollowed out on the back, remnants of a frame. H. 34, W. 19.5, D. 9 cm, weight approx. 1.4 kg. Sculptural representation of the seated Mother of God holding the body of Christ. Part. bumped and dam., stress crack. Provenance: Acquired in the 1980s at Lempertz auction house, Cologne (X60643) - private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
