LARGE HOLY BISHOP Southern German or Alpine, around 1500 Wood, sculpted, gilded and polychromed, flattened and hollowed out on the back, on a pedestal. H. 108, W. 40, D. 24 cm. Fine late Gothic depiction of a holy bishop or abbot, with mitre and crozier, in rich liturgical vestments with dynamic, angular folds. Partially damaged and worn, loss of material, severe woodworm damage, hand damage. Provenance: European private collection.
