Description
A SET OF FIVE PORCELAIN PLATES FROM THE SERVICE OF GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEVICH Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Factory, Period of Nicholas I, 1848-1852 Ornamentally painted, gilded rims. Underglaze blue factory mark 'NI' under the crown, partially with Cyrillic marks 'F', '56', or '64.' in gold, partially with stamp '54'. Decorated with the Grand Duke's monogram in Cyrillic 'WKKN' and with the imperial double-headed eagle. The ceremonial service was designed by F.G. Solntsev for the wedding of the Grand Duke and the Princess of Saxe-Altenburg, the future Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna. Paint slightly rubbed, one plate slightly chipped. Diam. 22-22.6 cm.
