Description
A SET OF SIX PORCELAIN PLATES FROM THE SERVICE OF GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEVICH Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Factory, Period of Nicholas I, 1848-1852 Ornamentally painted, partially gilded. Underglaze blue factory mark 'NI' under the crown, one plate with a stamp '54', partially with the number '75.' in gold. Decorated with the Grand Duke's monogram in Cyrillic 'WKKN' and with the imperial double-headed eagle. The ceremonial service was designed by F.G. Solntsev for the wedding of the Grand Duke and the Princess of Saxe-Altenburg, the future Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna. Paint slightly rubbed. Diam. 22.4 cm.
