ANTON VAN EYK 1911 Kaldenkirchen - 2004 Nettetal MONUMENTAL BLESSING CHRIST 1938 Bronze, dark patina, on rectangular plinth. H. approx. 205, W. 55, D. 120 cm, estimated weight 200 kg. Unsigned, cast in the August Bischoff bronze foundry in Düsseldorf. Anton van Eyk was a sculptor from Kaldenkirchen and created a monumental figure of Christ in 1938, which was designed for the family tomb of the artist van Eyk. The fully sculpted, large-format bronze shows Jesus blessing with both hands raised and has stood in the cemetery in Brüggen-Braacht since its creation. Part rubbed and bumped, traces of oxidation due to weathering, two-part plinth. Expertise: Original foundry order dated August 05, 1938 available.
