Description
A THANGKA DEPICTING SHADAKSHARI LOKESHVARA Nepal, 18th/19th century Distemper on cloth, mounted. Ca. 69x46.5 cm (ca. 115x60 cm with mounting). The thangka depicts the Shadakshari Lokeshvara as its central figure. A golden mandorla studded with jewels encircles him, while his head is surrounded by a red aureole. He wears an elaborate jeweled crown, atop which sits Amit?bha. To his right stands the Bodhisattva Manjushri, and to his left, the Bodhisattva Vajrapani. They are surrounded by 104 attendant figures. In the background, a red stupa and inscriptions in Tibetan script are depicted. With traces of age, partially damaged and stained.
