EIN THANGKA MIT DER DARSTELLUNG VON MAITREYA

A THANGKA DEPICTING MAITREYA China (Tibet), 18th/19th century Distemper on cloth. 40x30 cm (ca. 82x54 total with mounting). Maitreya is depicted at the center, seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base atop an elaborate throne, both hands held in Dharmacakra mudra, adorned with a Kundika atop his head. He is flanked by three lamas-Tsongkhapa above, Gyaltsab Je to the left, and Khedrup Je to the right. Below him, Mahakala appears on the lower left, and Palden Lhamo on the lower right. On the reverse of the thangka is "Om Ah Hum". With traces of age, partially damaged and restored. Provenance: From a private collection in the North Rhine-Westphalia.
