ZWEI SAKRALE FIGUREN: ERZENGEL RAPHAEL UND HEILIGE BARBARA MIT TURM

TWO SACRED FIGURES: ARCHANGEL RAPHAEL AND SAINT BARBARA WITH TOWER South German, 18th century Lindenwood, carved in the round, polychromed and gilded, flattened at the back. H. 36/29, W. 18/16, D. 13/14 cm. A winged angel in dynamic motion, wearing richly draped robes and protectively leading a small child by the hand; the angel's right hand is raised with the index finger pointing towards heaven. Standing figure of Saint Barbara of Nicomedia in magnificent attire; her right hand rests on her chest, while her left holds the martyr's palm. To the side stands the characteristic tower, alluding to her imprisonment and martyrdom. Part. chips and damage; some loss of polychromy.
