LATE GOTHIC SAINT ANNA SELBDRITT Probably Upper Rhine, around 1480 Wood, sculpted, polychrome, flattened on the back. H. 88, W. 27, D. 21 cm. Devotional depiction of Saint Anne Selbdritt: Saint Anne stands in the center, holding Mary on her arms, who prays with her hands clasped together, and the Christ Child, holding a globe as a sign of his divine sovereignty. The figures are united in a harmonious composition, with flowing drapery and rich colors. Partially preserved and damaged, loss of paint, minimal stress cracks, base of Saint Anne at the lower hem of her robe restored and carved, paint overlay.
