Description
TWO PORCELAIN PLATES FROM THE KORBIEVSKY SERVICE Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Factory, Period of Nicholas II, 1896/1902 Painted, with gilded rims. Underglaze green factory mark 'NII' under the crown. The Korbievsky service was inspired by a French tableware set originally purchased for the imperial court from the shop of J. Corbie in St. Petersburg. It was used on festive and formal occasions-particularly during ceremonial breakfasts and luncheons at the Great Palace and the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoye Selo. The original set from 1830 was later supplemented with additional pieces. Min. rubbed, one plate lower min. chipped. Each diam. 21.8 cm.
