Description
TWO GUITAR LUTES Klingenthal and German, first half of the 20th century. Two plucked string instruments. Lengths 97 and 98 cm. One lute bears a plaque on the neck reading "Meinel & Herold Musikinstrumenten-Fabrik, Klingenthal i. Sa." Round-bellied lute with a spruce top over a maple shell, six strings, pear-shaped body, trapezoidal pegbox with a florally carved head, richly carved soundhole rosette, hardwood fingerboard. Partially bumped and damg. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
