Description
SITAR Delhi, India, 20th century Wooden soundbox, metal frets, elaborate bone inlays and inlay work, floral ornamentation, with two gourd resonators. Length: 125 cm. Marked on the neck: "Kartar Music House, Chawri Bazar, Delhi-6." The sitar is one of the most important plucked instruments in North Indian classical music. Partially bumped and damg. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
