ESRAJ / DILRUBA Probably North India, 20th century Wooden case, richly carved bone inlay decoration with painted floral ornaments, tuning pegbox with carved swan's head and resonator with swan figure. 78 cm. The Esraj is a North Indian bowed string instrument that incorporates features of plucked long-necked lutes. Minor chips and signs of rubbing/wear in places. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
