PERSIAN SETAR (LONG-NECKED LUTE) Iran, Tehran, second half of the 20th century Wooden body, long neck with hardwood fingerboard, soundboard with small sound holes. Length: 85 cm. The Persian maker's mark "Habibi" is branded onto the neck. Traditional Persian setar ("seh tar" = three strings). The instrument bears the branded maker's mark "Habibi," which is attributed to the renowned Habibi instrument-making workshop in Tehran. Such brand marks (Mehr) serve as seals of origin and quality in Persian instrument making. In good condition. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
