MANDOLINE EXPRESSIVE" CYLINDER MUSIC BOX Switzerland, circa 1900 Rectangular wooden case, cylinder mechanism (metal and brass), glass lid; internal controls for winding and "Stop/Play" function. Dimensions: approx. 15.5 cm (H) x 58 cm (W) x 27.5 cm (D). Version for the German market. Swiss precision brass movement mounted on a light-colored bedplate, featuring a "Mandoline Expressive" sound system, a wide steel comb, and a guilloché comb cover with an applied lyre motif. Regulation levers on the right side with German labeling ("STILL/SPIEL"). Original lithographed tune sheet ("Mandoline Expressive - 8 Airs") featuring a composer portrait and floral border, with a handwritten list of eight musical pieces. Parts show some wear and scuffing; mechanism runs. Provenance: Private collection, Hesse.
