AUGUSTE MOREAU 1834 Paris - 1917 Dijon 'TWO CHILDREN PLAYING' Gilt bronze. H. 47, W. 26, D. 23 cm. Unsigned; comparable, identical versions by Moreau exist. A finely modeled, fully sculptural group depicting two children playing in a close embrace, together carrying a lavish bouquet of flowers and ears of grain. This cheerful, idyllic scene is to be interpreted as an allegory of spring or the harvest. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint.
