LOUIS AUGUSTE MOREAU 1855 Paris - 1919 Paris 'ENFANT PLEUREUR' ('WEEPING ANGEL WITH SKULL') Bronze with gold and dark patina, on a stepped marble base. H. 30, W. 24, D. 12 cm. Inscribed 'Aug. moreau' on the back of the skull. Depiction of a seated, winged putto in a melancholic pose. The head rests thoughtfully in one hand, with the arm placed upon a skull; an hourglass-symbolizing the passing of time-stands to the side. Part. bumped loss of patina.
