Description
BERLIN SCULPTOR Active in the early 20th century PAN / SATYR WITH CHILD Bronze, brown patina, on a round plinth and marble pedestal (H. 7 cm). Total height 32.5, W. 23, 18.5 cm, weight approx. 8.8 kg. On the back of the plinth, foundry mark 'Oscar Gladenbeck GmbH', presumably Fritz Richter-Elsner (1884-?). Rare bronze casting with an expressive mythological scene: The goat-legged god Pan sits calmly and plays his pan flute with concentration, while a small child lies restlessly on his knees, writhing and apparently resisting the musical performance. The composition thrives on the tense contrast between the stoic, animal-like divine being and the almost defensive child. Partial loss of patina and minor damage, base with minor damage.
