JOHANN PHILIPP FERDINAND (ALSO KNOWN AS FRITZ) PREISS 1882 Erbach - 1943 Berlin 'HOOP GIRL'* Chryselephantine; bronze, cold-painted; face, arms, and legs carved from ivory; green onyx base (H. 3 cm). Figure: H. 19, W. 12, D. 7 cm; weight approx. 0.83 kg. Engraved 'F. Preiss' on the base. Depiction of a young girl in a short play or sports outfit, standing upright and holding a hoop and stick behind her back. Minor damage and loss of patina; paintwork shows age-related cracking.
