JOHANN PHILIPP FERDINAND (ALSO KNOWN AS FRITZ) PREISS 1882 Erbach - 1943 Berlin 'SONNY BOY'* Chryselephantine; cold-painted bronze; face, arms, and legs carved from ivory; green onyx base (H. 3 cm). H. 19, W. 12.5, D. 7.5 cm; weight approx. 0.79 kg. Engraved 'F. Preiss' on the base. Depiction of a schoolboy in shorts, with a book under his arm and his hands casually tucked into his trouser pockets. Minor chips and loss of patina. Literature: Cf.
