EMILE LAPORTE 1858 Paris - 1907 Paris 'FENCER' Bronze, dark patina, on a square plinth. H. 50, W. 23, D. 13 cm. Signed 'Emile Laporte' on the side; numbered '3978' on the back. A fully modeled figure of a young fencer in minimal attire, checking the flexibility of his rapier with a critical gaze. The rapier features an ornately crafted handguard. Minor nicks and loss of patina in places; slight casting seam visible on the arms. Expertise: Certificate of authenticity from the Nancy Roach Gallery, 1997.
