EMILE-LOUIS PICAULT 1833 Paris - 1915 Paris LARGE 'VERCINGETORIX - VINCERE AUT MORI' Bronze with dark patina, on a square plinth and marble base (H. 3 cm). Total height 81 cm, width 34 cm, depth 30 cm. Titled on the front; inscribed 'E. Picault' on the plinth. Large, fully modeled depiction of the Gallic chieftain Vercingetorix in a heroic pose. The muscular warrior wears a wide loincloth, fur cloak, boots, and a winged helmet; he holds a sword in his right hand, while his outstretched left hand points toward the ground with a resolute gesture. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint.
