EDUARD RETTENMAIER 1865 Schwäbisch Gmünd - 1920 Frankfurt am Main THE HORSE TAMER Bronze, dark patina, on rectangular plinth (H. 3 cm). Total height 50, width 43, D. 21.5, weight approx. 16.3 kg. Signed on the plinth 'E. Rettenmaier', after the original in the Louvre by Guillaume Coustou (1677 Lyon - 1746 Paris). Fully sculpted representation of an athletic man taming a rearing horse. Partial loss of patina, min. bumped and rubbed.
