Description
TWO BUSHU SCHOOL TSUBA (SWORD GUARDS) Japan, 18th/19th century Iron. H. 6.5-7.2 cm. Both tsuba are of marugata form and finely executed in sukashi openwork. One is decorated with bamboo and signed "Bushu-ju Masakata"; the other, an inlaid tsuba decorated with flowers, is signed "Bushu-ju Masatomi". With traces of age. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
