Description
A BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI China, Ming Dynasty (16th century) Bronze. H. 33.5 cm. Shakyamuni in robe with floral patterns along the hems is seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with both hands in dhyana mudra on lap. With traces of age and rest of gilding, partially abraded, bottom partially restored. Provenance: From a private collection in Rhineland, acquired at the beginning of 20th century in China, and thence by descent.
