Description
A MONUMENTAL BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF BUDDHA Burma, 19th century Bronze. H. 75 cm. Shakyamuni is seated in vajrasana, with the right hand in bhumisparsha mudra and the left resting on his lap, on a low curved throne with a donor inscription in the center. The figure in Mandalay style has a serene face and inlaid eyes, the hair styled in small curls. With traces of age, partially damaged and abraded. Provenance: From a private collection in Tyrol, acquired in Thailand in the second half of 20th century.
