EINE FEINE VERGOLDETE SKULPTUR EINES PHÖNIX AUS BRONZE

A FINE GILT BRONZE SCULPTURE OF PHOENIX China, probably Ming Dynasty Bronze. H. ca. 45.5 cm. The sculpture is finely cast as a standing phoenix with its mouth open, wings spread as if about to take flight, and the wings are movable. The phoenix's feathers, including the tail, are all sculpted with exquisite detail. With traces of age and gilting, partially abraded and damaged. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
