A SHIBAYAMA INLAID WOOD TONKOTSU Japan, 19th century Wood, inlaid with mother-of-pearl. H. 6 cm. Finely inlaid with mother-of-pearl, depicting on one side a fly resting on a lacquered red leaf, the other side and the lid decorated with inlaid leaves. Connected to an ojime and manju-netsuke. With traces of age and use; partially abraded. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
