EIN GESCHNITZTES TONKOTSU MIT DRACHENDARSTELLUNG AUS ELFENBEIN

A CARVED IVORY TONKOTSU WITH DRAGONS Japan, 19th century or later Ivory. H. 6.7 cm. The Tonkotsu is finely carved with three ferocious dragons surging through a sea of clouds, each with inlaid eyes. With traces of age and use, partially abraded, with most of the inlaid eyes missing, and with part of the cover and the base now lost. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country.
