Description
A WOOD NETSUKE OF A SLEEPING FARMER Japan, 19th century Wood. L. 4.2 cm. The netsuke is carved as a farmer sleeps on a folded straw mat. His head lies on his crossed arms, and one leg is undercut, the other bent. In the belt band is a hatchet with sickle-shaped blade (nataga-mâ) and long handle. With traces of use and age.
