A LACQUERED AND GILT WOOD CARVED NETSUKE OF SHISHI Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 3.2 cm. The netsuke is carved as a shishi seated with its head turning to the right and one forepaw resting on a pierced openwork ball with loose ball inside, signed on the bottom "Minkoku". With traces of use, partially abraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in Hesse.
