Description
A CANTON IVORY BRISE FAN China, 19th/20th century Ivory. L. 28 cm. The Cantonese fan features two ivory guards, showing everyday scenes with various people. The hand-painted leaves display various figures with ivory inlaid faces, their robes made of silk. It comes with a brass holder and colorful tassels hanging from it. With traces of use and age, partially damaged. Provenance: From an old private collection in the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, acquired in 1973 from the auction house Lempertz. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country. It is currently not possible to export ivory to the USA, Canada or England.
