Description
A CHINESE EXPORT LACQUER SEWING TABLE China, 19th/20th century Lacquerware/ivory. Ca. 76x63x42.5 cm. The large shallow box with a rectangular hinged lid elaborately gilt, the box fitted with various covered compartments containing a wide variety of ivory sewing utensils, all supported on two turned legs resting on solidly carved feet. With traces of use and age, partially adraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, acquired in 1973 from the auction house Lempertz. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country.
