AN INLAID HONGMU TRAVELLING COSMETICS BOX China, late Qing Dynasty Wood. Ca. 22x26.5x37 cm. The box inlaid with hardstones etc. has a mirror on the inside of the hinged cover and various compartments with drawers. With trace of use, partially damaged, ivory inlays removed but remain. Exhibited in the special exhibition "Schätze für den Kaiser, Meisterwerke chinesischer Kunst (1368 - 1911)" in the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim. Provenance: From a North German private collection.
