A MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID BLACK LACQUERED WOOD LIDDED DOCUMENT BOX Korea, 19th century Wood/mother-of-pearl. 34.5x20x21.8 cm. The box is decorated with animals on three sides and cranes surrounding a "Shou" character on the cover by inlaying mother-of-pearl. With traces of use, slightly damaged, inside covered with paper. This box can be compared with a very similar piece in the collection of National Museum of Scotland (A.1907.693.4) Provenance: From an old private collection in Düsseldorf.
