XIAOBAI SU 1949 CHINA CHINESE DOOR (LATE 1990S) Oil on canvas, framed. 180 x 138 x 3 cm. Discovered by the collector in the late 1990s in Su Xiaobai's studio in Weidingen, while still fresh with undried paint, this significant work marks the first time the artist prominently introduced green into his painting. Originally unsigned, the work was later authenticated when, a year after its acquisition, Su Xiaobai - by then based in Shanghai - signed a photograph of the piece on the reverse during a meeting with the collector in Düsseldorf. The painting was professionally framed in 2010. Overall in good condition.
