MONUMENTAL MANTEL CLOCK ENSEMBLE 'THE SEASONS' France, Paris, Planchon, second half of the 19th century Bronze, gilt, marble, glass, metal, steel, enamel. 50.5 x 38.5 x 17 cm. Inscribed on the dial 'Planchon à Paris'. 3 pieces: A marble base with ornamental bronze mounts and fully sculpted putti symbolizing the four seasons rests on bronze feet. Two solid rectangular columns support the clock mechanism, crowned by a putto with a scythe. Behind a glazed door, an enameled dial with floral decoration, Arabic numerals, and ornamental hands. And a pair of five-branched chandeliers. Partially chipped and damaged; with pendulum, without key; function untested.
