PAUL AICHELE 1859 Markdorf - 1920 Berlin SEATED LADY (PROBABLY PAOLINA BONAPARTE) Alabaster, on a pedestal. H. 43, W. 41, D. 18 cm. Marked 'Aichele' on the back. Antique-style depiction of a seated lady, probably based on the iconic portrait of Paolina Bonaparte as Venus Victrix. The rectangular pedestal has an integrated bronze plate showing a quadriga with a charioteer in relief - a motif alluding to triumph, glory, and ancient symbols of power. Partially bumped and rubbed. Min. dam.
