LUDVÍK SIMEK 1837-1886 BLESSING CHRIST CHILD (SALVATOR MUNDI) Prague, 1880 Ceramic, modeled in the round, with gesso ground, polychrome finish, and gilding. H. 49.5 cm, W. 21 cm, D. 14 cm; weight approx. 2.5 kg. Incised signature "L. Simek" and date "1880" on the back of the integrated plinth. Full-figure depiction of the standing Christ Child ("Infant Jesus of Prague") in a long robe; his right hand is raised in blessing, while his left holds a gilded orb-symbolizing his dominion over the world. Minor chips, losses to the finish, and rubbing to the gilding.
