Description
KNEELING ANGEL IN ADORATION South German, circa 1700 Limewood, carved in the round, with traces of original polychrome finish; gessoed. H. 48, W. 24, D. 22 cm. Depiction of a kneeling angel in an attitude of adoration, hands crossed reverently before the chest. The youthful angel features softly modeled flesh tones, flowing curly hair, and a loincloth draped around the hips. Part. knocks and damage; losses to the finish.
