SAINT CATHERINE Southern Germany, first half of the 16th century Linden wood, sculpted, gilded, polychrome, flattened and hollowed out on the back, on a pedestal. H. 75, W. 28, D. 23 cm, weight approx. 5.78 kg. Late Gothic depiction of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, in a dignified posture, finely carved folds of her robe and calm, idealized physiognomy. Partially bumped, loss of paint, restored, minimal woodworm damage.
