LARGE GUARDIAN ANGEL WITH PRAYING CHILD Presumably Belgium, 19th century. Terracotta, fully modeled in the round, gilded, and polychrome-painted. H. 156, W. 48, D. 31 cm. Large depiction of a guardian angel wearing long, flowing robes with an ornamental border and a diadem. With the left hand, the angel guides a praying child who is looking up at him, while the raised right hand points toward the heavens with an extended index finger. Minor chips, damage, and losses to the paintwork. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
