LARGE FORMAL BUST OF A ROYAL LADY Likely Netherlands, 19th century Wood, carved in the round, dark-stained, on a square marble base. H. 94, W. 44, D. 31 cm. A formal bust-length portrait of a noble lady with her hair worn up and wearing a magnificent tiara featuring openwork floral motifs. She wears ceremonial attire with elaborately carved borders of lace, blossoms, and ornamental patterns, as well as lavish, multi-stranded jewelry adorning her chest and neck. Likely a depiction of a member of the Dutch royal family, possibly Queen Wilhelmina (1880-1962) or Queen Emma (1858-1934). Minor damage; shrinkage cracks.
