LOUIS MARIE BLAISE LATOUR 1864 France - 1928 'CUPID AND PSYCHE' France, c. 1900 Electrotype?, gilded, hollow-cast reverse. H. 65, W. 48, D. 15 cm. Signed 'L. Latour' on the front (presumably Louis Latour). High-relief, dynamically animated depiction of the mythological lovers Cupid and Psyche. The winged Cupid carries the tenderly embracing Psyche upwards; both figures emerge from a dynamically modeled, rising cloud formation. Minor nicks/dents, rubbing to the gilding, loss of patina. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
