GESCHNITZTE KRONE

CARVED CROWN Probably Southern Germany or the Alpine region, 18th century. Carved wood, gessoed and leaf-gilded, flattened at the back. H. 17.5, W. 20, D. 7 cm; weight approx. 184 g. Elaborate crown featuring four curved arches richly decorated with acanthus leaves, floral-design points, and a spherical finial. Shows signs of wear and minor impact marks; gilding and finish exhibit abrasion and small losses.
