A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE ENTHRONED CHRIST Russian, 18th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The halo and throne made of gold. Christ is shown seated on an embroidered cushion on an elaborate throne decorated with flowers and foliage, the whole painted in tones of pale green and pale raspberry red. The nun St. Maria appears on the right border. Minor areas of retouching. 31.5 x 26.5 cm.
