Description  
 	
	A MONUMENTAL SIGNED AND DATED ICON SHOWING THE ENTHRONED CHRIST Russian, Moscow, Armoury Chamber, Ivan Petrov, dated 1704 Tempera on wood panel. The throne made of gold. Signed in Cyrillic and dated in the lower image. Minor losses to the edges. 70.3 x 55.6 cm. The icon painter Ivan Petrov, son of Yermak, who worked in the Armory Chamber, is mentioned in documents from 1717. According to a contract, he painted two icons: the Coronation of the Mother of God, accompanied by Saint Tikhon the Wonderworker and Saint Nikita the Martyr, for the smelter of the Mint, G. S. Shumayev.
